Agenda: Service Committee Monthly Meeting
The meeting was called to order: at 10:00 a.m. by John R. and opened with the Serenity Prayer
Attendees: Jay F, Lisa C, Jeff K, Suzy Q, Jeanne O., John R., Vincent C., Rebecca, Mike D.
Chairperson: John R.
- A motion was made by Jeanne to accept the minutes from last month and Lisa seconded. Report was accepted.
- John made contact with the Landlord and his update is the following: The sprinkler system work is underway, and that phase alone will take two months to complete. After that the new flooring will will be installed and will finish out the project.
Vice Chairperson : Vince C Nothing to report
Treasury Report: Jay F
- Treasury report was given by Jay.
- A motion was made by John to accept the March 2026 Treasurer Report, seconded by Jeanne O. and the report was accepted.
Alt Treasury Report: Lisa C.
- Still being charged by BGE even though no power since December. Need to communicate with the landlord to call BGE so they can come out and see that we do not have a meter.
- Because we don’t have a lease, we cannot turn off the power. John will reach out to the landlord regarding this issue.
General Services Rep (GSR) – (Information by Jeanne O)
- 2026 Mini Conference was last Sunday. Topics were given and discussed. Jeanne has the information if anyone wants it.
Washington Area Intergroup Association (WAIA): – Rebecca
- Report is on the website
- Nightwatch, H&I and additonal help in the office is needed as they are looking for volunteers. Rebecca has numbers if anyone would like to call to provide service. John to put information on the website as well.
Alternate Washington Area Intergroup Association (WAIA): – Jeff K
- Volunteers needed.
- Donations are down.
Hospitals & Institutions – Vincent and (not present) Thomas
- Volunteers are still signing up to participate in meetings at Howard County Hospital.
- Vincent has been going to the hospital every other week.
- Jay F. is still taking meetings to Ordinance Road on the 4th Thursday of every month.
Chips: – Mike D.
- Chips have been purchased and placed to the Greenbelt Step Club for the Wednesday Meeting.
- Wednesday Noon meeting would like some newcomer 24 hour chips. Mike will coordinate with Rebecca.
Publications Report – Mike D.
- Nothing to report as of today.
Supplies – Ben C – Not Present
- No supplies needed at this time.
Secretary Coordinator – Shawn G. Not Present
- Nothing to report
Virtual Meeting Coordinator – Jeanne O.
- Tuesday night virtual meeting at 7 p.m. needs a new secretary. Jeanne is the tech for now.
- Rotating secretaries at virtual meetings is continuing.
Website – John R. – Report Submitted
- Report was sent out to the Service Committee
Old Business:
- We have the new EIN.
- Suzy and Lisa were able to get our PO Box back.
New Business
- Back to Basics will start back up via hybrid and in person at the Alano Club 9231 Rumsey Road, Columbia, MD 21045 on Sundays at 4 pm on May 17, 24, 31 and June 7, 2026. On line Meeting ID 690587 7013 password: 164
- There is a new flyer that was made by someone not in the committee. Usually the flyers would come to the committee to get approved. John stated that we have all of the information on our website. We do not advertise our meetings as the tradition is attraction not promotion.
- We received a text regarding giving information to and investigator regarding a background check, and it was noted that we do not do that. However, we can agree to verify their attendance if needed.
